Model RL9 :: Ring light with polarizing option
Description
Surpassing the low light output of contemporary LED ringlights, Orled's RL9 illuminates a 1.5" spot with a brilliant 60000 lux , nearly the brightness of direct sunlight. Brighter output allows the RL9 to be used with inspection microscopes of higher magnification while reducing eye fatigue, and the cool nature of LED white light prevents heating of the illuminated subject.
Orled's ringlight achieves extraordinary light output through the use of high power LED packages and the use of innovative heat sink. An advanced lens design directs light from individual souces to the centerline of the ringlight and blends it into an evenly luminescent spot. The RL9 comes equipped with a current-controlled power supply that plugs into standard line voltage. A brightness control allows the light output to be dialed to suit the operators exact need, from full to zero output. The housing has an O.D. of 4.0" and a clear I.D of 2.0". With setscrews on a clamping I.D. of 2.65" it is easily mounted to most inspection microscopes made by Leica, Carl Zeiss and other leading manufacturers.
Polarizer
The RL9 now comes with a polarizing option that diminishes glare from reflective objects. It functions by allowing light from the RL9's LEDs to pass through a polarizing film before illuminating the object. Light bounces off the object and passes through an analyzer before arriving at the eye of the operator or the lens of the camera. Rotating the ring at the center of the ring light aligns the analyzer with the polarizer. The result is an image that has less glare and more contrast. Glare reduction can be an indispensable asset for many applications such as:
Electronics: eliminating reflections off solder beads when inspecting assembled circuit boards. Dentistry: decreasing glare off wet enamel to allow cracks and cavities to be seen.
Plastics: rendering visible microfissures that would normally be hidden by surface reflections.
Working Distance and Lenses
The working distance (the distance from the bottom of the ringlight lens to the subject) have been measured and are listed below.
RL9-3
Optimal working distance = 3.4"
Range = 4.5" - 2.5"
RL9-4
Optimal working distance = 4.2"
Range = 6.0" - 3.2"
Installation
A secure connection to your microscope is achieved with 3 soft-tipped set
screws (included).
Input Power
The RL9 is supplied with an AC adapter which can be plugged into all
standard line voltages (100-260 VAC at 45-60 Hz). Plug adaptors for European
or Asian electical outlets are included on request. The AC adaptor powers
the brightness control unit that provides the RL9 with the correct regulated power.
